I had just started driving when I hit the button to raise my suspension, everything seemed to be working as normal but the truck never raised and the indicator light flashed raising but never stopped. After driving about 5 miles I stopped the truck turned it off and restarted. The indicator stopped flashing, remaining in off-road 1, but the front was lower than the rear. I tried adjusting again but nothing worked. Got back on the road and got up to highway speeds to see if it would auto adjust but it remained in off-road 1, even at 70mph. It had been below freezing overnight, but the temp had raised above 45 when this occurred. A bit of a safety issue as the truck doesn't handle right, when the front is lowered to exit level and the rear is in off-road 2.

During cold weather (sub 32F) air suspension will fail, causing truck to sit on bump stops (suspension bottoms out on one or more corners, sometimes all 4 corners). Has happened while driving, causing very rough/bumpy ride and causes poor handling if it happens while driving, at various speeds ranging from sub 25mph to 70+mph. Can also fail if parked. Attached image is of front driver tire bottomed out sitting in garage.

I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 laramie limited with the air suspension option. I bought it 11 months ago. It was winter when I bought it, and on the test drive, I attempted to adjust the suspension level and immediately got the warning message that the air suspension needed to be serviced. They took it into their service bay and replaced the fuse, which temporarily resolved the issue. As the weather remained cold, however, I got the same message again, so contacted the dealer and took it back in. I ended up having to take it back in multiple times, with them "insulating a part of the system and updating the ECU". as the weather warmed up through the spring and summer, no issues. Fast forward to this winter, once the weather dropped below freezing, the service air suspension light came back on. I checked all fuses, and none were blown, which seems to be the common fault that causes this error message. I pulled them and replaced them to try to reset the system, and the system tried lower the truck, then raise it, to the point where it finally stopped with the front end completely lowered on the bump stops, and the back end in off-road 2. the height indicator stated it was in off-road 2, even at highway speeds, even though that height is not supposed to be able to be maintained at highway speeds. The system also continues to try to raise and lower on it's own, doing so for up to an hour at a time while driving. All that being said, the vehicle is back at the dealer for repairs, even though the forums I've found state there is currently not a permanent solution from fca. This appears to be a widespread problem in any climate that drops below freezing after doing some research online, resulting in damage to vehicles and loss of control of the vehicle in some instances. I hope no one has to lose their life in order for this to demand a resolution from fca.

I have hade it in the shop to get it fixed but it still is doing the same thing.I seen on line where other people has hade the same thing happen while driving. It will also lower its self all the waqy down to exit mode while parked at times

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. While the vehicle was being driven or parked, the air ride suspension deflated when the temperature was below freezing. The service air suspension warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to lee Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (765 center St, auburn, me 04210, (207) 783-2291) where it was diagnosed that the nitrogen was low. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Suspension system (air bags) go out. The system completely shuts down and truck will hit the road (even flat new road) really hard with any bump. Usually it starts with one side the driver back side and eventually both air bags go out. Is very dangerous because if a little bump can manage to move my steering, a big pot hole can make my whole truck changes lanes. The system detects the malfunction after 3 uses and says "suspension overheated" suspension cooling". this happen every day for the last 2 months. The more use in the day, the more pull, the more weight, it goes out. I can't use the truck for what is for and now is only a carpool truck. Dodge Ram longhorn 2014

Air suspension system failed. The issue happens at random and can be stationary or traveling at highway speeds. All air is emptied from the system causing the vehicle to bounce around uncontrollably at highway speeds. The frame of the truck will be resting on the axle directly. I took the truck to the Ram dealer for repair and after several attempts, changing out serval components they can not figure out why the truck is loosing air. The dealer now tells me that without a code in the system they can not repair it even though I show them pictures with date and time that the system is malfunctioning and the frame is sitting directly on the axle.

I've been having problems with the air ride suspension on my 2014 Dodge Ram longhorn and I fear this problem could result into a major issue for myself and my children. I've looked online and there several people who have the same problem. Please help! I don't want this issue to have any catastrophic problems for myself and my kids that I take take to and from school. Also this vehicle has to get me to and from work. Please respond and help. The first time of the malfunction myself and kids where in motion headed to school and the rear suspension completely went out. The truck was bouncing very hard and we could feel every bump in the road. The second time I was on the highway driving to work and it did the same thing. I pulled over and called tow truck and my husband had to pick me up and drive me to work. The third time I was headed to take my kids to school and the truck was low on the ground so I started it to see if it would rise up but nothing happened and it was still driving really bad making every bump feel like I would loose control of the vehicle. I feel this is very unsafe and I need help.

We own a 2014 Ram 1500 laramie. It is 3.22.19, since Jan 4th 2019 we have had 4 new compressors installed and we just got our truck back after 1 month of not having it and it failed again for the 5th time after driving it 15 miles. We are completely disappointed in the design of the air ride suspension in this truck. We are now at a loss because we have not had our truck for 3 months and still making payments on it and cannot drive it. This is unacceptable for a dealership to sell a 28,000 truck that you can't use or drive.

The incident happened while I was driving home on I40 in amarillo Texas. I was doing 75 mph and my truck lowered all the way to the entry exit setting on the air ride suspension. I had literally no suspension. As I was trying to slow down and trying to pull over I hit a bump in the road. My truck literally bounced like a low rider and my head hit the ceiling. I lost control when the front wheels hit the ground and almost crashed into the car next to me. I was finally able to come to a complete stop and my service air suspension immediately light came on. Now my air ride suspension will not raise up and cannot drive my car because it bounces uncontrollably. I was researching this problem and reading on Dodge Ram forums that this is very common for these trucks. This is very dangerous and a serious matter. It could have easily cost me or somebody else our life! this was very scary! Dodge needs to do something about this to make this right!

Air ride suspension froze up when temps went below zero. Air ride drops to bump stops while driving causing hazardous driving conditions, which has happened to us while hundreds of miles from home. With no suspension hitting any type of bumps causes the vehicle to bounce any direction and very difficult to control, and is hard on the back. It will rise and act properly then just drop to bump stops in a short time with no warning. The problem has happened while on the highway, and city streets in motion. The component in question is the is the enclosed nitrogen air ride suspension controlling the compressor and air bags.

The air ride suspension in all of these trucks are failing in Canadian cold climates. My truck is consistently riding on the bump stops when it's cold out causing a very rough ride that is not good for the vehicle or the passengers. Let alone the control of the vehicle is diminished with zero suspension. When it gets cold (-15 or so) I walk outside to see my trucks front end all the way lowered with the rear still at normal height. Warming up truck doesn't help. The ride height buttons just flash and warning signs sometimes display on the dash. Many people (including me) then get blown fuses or the compressor fails and then there is no fix but to go to dealer. Dodge replaced my air ride components but it did not resolve the issue. I fear for the coming year when my vehicle is out of warranty and driving with my kids and I am driving around with no suspension. There is enough people that have these same issues as I've described to warrant a recall. There are class action law suits in the usa over this issue. There is a facebook group describing these failures further. Group is called fca Ram pickup air suspension failures. It is unfathomable that I am supposed to be driving around in a vehicle with my kids in a truck that I've paid many thousands of dollars for that doesn't have suspension and no help from Dodge. This should be a big issue. Someone is going to have a bad accident because of this.

Air suspension will freeze up in negative temperatures. When this happens while driving truck over bumps, causes vehicle to lose stability/traction on the road, especially on icy roads - causing high risk for an accident.

This truck has the optional air suspension, which will not function in cold weather. The compressor and lines get polluted with moisture which freezes, causing the pump to not work and control valves to stick. The result is the truck has no suspension whatsoever. Warming the truck up in the shop restores functionality temporarily. The dealership and fca itself will only replace components, which does not remedy the problem. I have started a facebook action group that has numerous other owners with the exact same problem. Fca will not recall or claim responsibility for their defective product.

My truck has the "4-corner air suspension" which was standard on my model. It repeatedly fails when the temperature gets below freezing. It will typically drop the front end very low and sometimes even the rear end. This happens while parked or driving. It is terrifying to drive when this happens - bumps nearly throw you off the road and steering is unpredictable. I cannot find a dealer that is sure they can fix it, and the proposed "maybe" fixes are upwards of $2000. I cannot safely get to work some days and I never know when it will happen. This has been going on for 2 winters - when I was still under warranty the dealer told me fca has no fix and I should just ignore it until it warms up. I cannot control the climate. The most common warning indicated on the dash is "service or repair air suspension immediately" which is ridiculous since I might be hundreds of miles from home and the dealer won't repair it anyways. The second most common warning is that the payload has been exceeded. This will come up even with the truck empty. Everyone I have spoken to that has this suspension reports the same scary experiences and fca has not offered a fix to any of them. I cannot afford to trade it and I cannot afford to keep it. Please help!
