1500 Lone Star 5.3L V8 Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 132,000 miles

I was driving normal down a road at around 55mph and heard a loud pop and white smoke. I pulled over and looked underneath. My u joint had broke, my driveshaft broke off and cracked my transfer case. I wasn't pulling anything and wasn't driving recklessly. Ram has such a bad issue with powertrain/drivetrain and transmission issues.

1500 Express 5.7L/V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,300 miles

my drive shaft came off while driving down the road at 75mhp

Why would a drive shaft come off on a new car. It could have been a lot worse. It punched a hole in my right rear tire and gouged my gas tank and bent up my muffler and deflector shields and other damage under my truck. I have not got my truck back from the dealership so I am not sure how much other damage it has caused. i found my drive shaft about a mile behind the place the truck stopped in 2 pieces. I have a short wheel base regular cab truck so the drive shaft should be a one peace, no carrier bearing, shaft. I could have caught on fire or the drive shaft could have went into the car behind me but luckily it did not.
