Good morning! I own a 2015 Ram Ecodiesel. I am not the original owner. I am in California. The truck is not under warranty and the FCC will not help me nor the dealership. A few months ago I was towing my horses in a trailer and the truck started to loose acceleration, started to over heat, black smoke was coming out from under the hood, and it almost lost power going up a hill. It was ver scary and it almost caused an accident and my horses were terrified. I barely got it to drive up the hill and pulled over to safe place. The truck was smoking black smoke, smelled terrible, and we felt in danger. I took truck to dealership in San Luis Obispo CA. It was diagnosed with a bad intake manifold, bad fuel lines, bad egr cooler. The estimate in costs was about $7,000. Luckily my husband is a mechanic and he performed the repairs. Than the truck was back up and running, no more black smoke, and it sounded better. On 12/23/23 I was hauling my horses and small only 2 horse trailer, same trailer, it-??s small, not oversized or too big for my truck-??.. the truck started to lag, loose acceleration and drive slow, then it started a knocking sound-??.. then a high pitch noise-??.. this was terrifying as we were on a very busy freeway. I pulled over and the engine started to smoke and make horrible noises like knocking and high pitch screeches. My husband and I and our two horses were once again stranded with a broken down truck. This time on a very busy freeway, highway 101 in California. The truck was towed to the dealership that day. We were stranded for hours with horses and no water on side of a freeway. The truck was diagnosed by Santa maria, CA dodge ram Chrysler with a blown up engine, that must be completely replaced. The repair is $20,000 or more. This is a common issue in these trucks. This truck is dangerous and needs to be recalled and taken off the road. All of these engines are bad and they should all be bought back. They were ruined after the emissions scandal.

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH and making a right turn, the vehicle jerked twice. There was white smoke coming from under the hood. The smoke was thick and obstructed the driver-??s view before the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rod bearing had become inoperable, and an engine replacement was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.

My truck is experiencing the -??hemi tick-??. Upon research, this tick is a common defect in RAM trucks that was supposed to be fixed in later models. Not true. Not only do I need to pay thousands for replacing the manifold, it will be a problem again. The hot/cold engine melds the aluminum and steel, creating a warped or split manifold. To replace it is immense labor, hence costly fees, as the bolts are too small to adequately remove and snap. If drilling out, metal could get into other parts of the engine causing severe damage. I bought this used at $30,000 miles (approx). Per my mechanic, the manifold has already been altered once. They claim it-??s a safety concern, which includes -??loss of power -?? especially at highway speeds. This is in addition to the repair costa and loss of value. The earliest appointment is a month away. Yes, it could be inspected upon request. It has been inspected by Arbos and G&D auto repair. Both whom are unable to remove the bolts and referred me to a dealership. I have an appointment with Hights Chrysler in Madison, Maine on Nov. 30th. The quotes I have received range from $500 to $2,000. The -??warning-?? is the ticking sound during idle.

5.7L Hemi MDS lifter failure on a vehicle that has less than 96K miles. this is regarding the MDS system lifter and the cam shaft lobe slowly getting wore away until something fails. still available for inspection, i have not attempted to rebuild that cylinderhead bank yet. camshaft/lifter/valve failure at highway speeds could make the vehicle stall and potentially lose control if engine fully seizes or creates drag to the drive terrain. Dealership claims that the "tick" which is horrifically loud inside the passenger cabin on startup and less loud once the oil warms up. is "normal" for these trucks. I am planning on having a 3rd party mechanic give a second opinion before paying to have the engine rebuilt no warning lamps yet, I stopped using the vehicle after it was determined that the tick was indicative of engine failure on most Stellaris 5.7L hemis (challenger, ram 1500, etc.)

Check engine light came on While driving up hill and shortly after I lost all throttle response and cruise control was disengaged. Vehicle started to slow and began to be sluggish. Still no throttle response. Pulled over. Put vehicle in park and then drive. Drove for next 2 hours with no issue. Checked with dealership and truck is throwing codes p066d and P0523. Truck has been fine so nice issue but still throwing those codes.

The vehicle has experienced multiple Turbo underboost code causing the vehicle to be put into limp mode without any explanation, Rhyme or Reason. The vehicle once this code is tripped places the vehicle into limp mode at which time virtually all power is lost this is now happened three different times with no explanation completely randomly the last time was when pulling a trailer uphill resulting in a near crash experience and being stranded on the side of the highway I had to force reset the computer by cycling the ignition to get the code to go away there was no problems prior to this code popping up or after. When this occurs it can be extremely dangerous when at highway speeds considering that the vehicle goes into limp mode and you're no longer able to go more than 10 miles an hour let alone if you're pulling a trailer it's virtually impossible to move the vehicle and if you're going uphill on a two-lane Highway with fully loaded 18 wheelers behind you at 65 mph and you all of a sudden come to a crawl you can see how this poses a major risk for injury or accident

With only 68,000 miles on the vehicle the engine has experienced a cam failure causing a fire and explosion hazard. Gas backfires through the carb, engine shakes really bad at idle, and engine misses while applying power to the engine going down the road at all speeds. Ten thousands of hemi engine failures reported on online forums. Also had to replace both exhaust manifolds around 50k miles. The bolts cracked and gave way. Ten of thousands of this issue reported online forums as well. Truck was bought as a demo with 2k on the vehicle at Edie Chrysler Bismarck ND.

I was driving down the road on Monday, June 27, 2023 at about 50 mph. All of a sudden the engine just seemed to go into limp mode and slowed down rapidly. The power was gone and the car seemed to not go over 35mph. The after driving another 1/2 mile I arrived at work. When I tried to turn off the engine and restart it was difficult. There was a long crank and then started. I got the car to the dealership and they say it threw a ode of P0336 which is for a Crankshaft Position Sensor and I needed a new Reluctator/tone wheel and crankshaft position sensor for $2,300. In researching the problem on your site I saw there was a recall but my VIN isn't included. Why? I also reviewed many Ram forums and I saw many similar complaints by Ram owners having the same problem and not being included int eh recall. It sounds like Fiat Chrysler gave the NHTSA some bogus info to limit the recall coverage. Its time the NHTSA force them to expand the recall to all EcoDiesels!. They clearly have not corrected the issue in their product! Its very unsafe at highway speeds and someone is going to get hurt.

I purchased this truck brand new and am the original owner. This truck has been in the dealers procession probably over 50 times and in the shop probably close to 200 days. Most all repairs have been about computer, smog, or other engine problems. Chrysler has extended my warranty out into 2025 and extended the miles to 125k. I currently have 82k miles. It just was in the dealer 1 month ago and currently has check engine light on again. They state it is for a recall they have no current fix for and it sounds like their not even working on one. I was told that this years model with the 3.0 diesel will be the last. I went to then ask for a trade in value from a Ram Chrysler dealer, and was told they could only give me low auction value. I have an additional over $7k in improvements that I will loose. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

I believe that Ram and It-??s parent company have intentionally not provided a recall fix for recall z46. If Ram refuses to provide a fix for the problem, and I-??m forced to drive the vehicle that could stall and crash at any time is absolutely a safety hazard. I-??ve contacted Ram cares and was told that if I-??m not comfortable driving the vehicle, to just park it and wait for a fix. This company not only provides faulty and unsafe vehicles but then forces its owner to drive them with no fix provided.

catastrophic engine failure due to the failed high pressure fuel pump, last year march 2022 my truck started stalling then lost all power to the engine the truck would not start. i took the truck to my mechanic where he Found no crank signal while engine cranking and sounded to be out of time. he Tested fuel flow from lift pump and found it to be correct. Tested injector weep line return flow and found no return this is normal, Tested fuel flow regulator at high pressure pump and also found no return while cranking this is normal. These test indicated that the high pressure pump has fail. Installed new high pressure pump and still no pressure. Removed pump and noticed it had not rotated from its timed installed location. This indicated that the drive gear is not rotating the pump and there is internal damage to engine. this damage happened due to the filed fuel pump.

I-??ve experienced 3 separate incidents with this truck that resulted in the engine shutting down while in transit as follows: 12/6/2019: engine stalled when accelerating up a hill. Used momentum to pull mostly out of traffic lane. Towed to dealer where crankshaft positioning sensor was replaced under an extended warranty associated with the Ram Ecodiesel emissions related class action settlement. 5/21/2021: engine stalled while towing a boat up hill on the interstate. Had to cross right lane traffic to the shoulder causing traffic behind and to the side to swerve and honk. Just made it to the shoulder. Diesel fuel was leaking. Towed to local diesel shop where high pressure fuel line was replaced at my expense. This would have been replaced under the aforementioned warranty had it been towed to a Ram service center. 5/28/2023: engine stalled while towing a boat on the interstate. Coasted to the right lane and down an exit where I made it to the shoulder. Had it towed to the nearest dealer who reported the engine as seized and in need of replacement. Ram customer service will not discuss any financial assistance in replacing the engine or in the cost of an engine tear down to determine the cause of the failure even though it-??s possibly related to the outstanding fuel pump recall or the previously mentioned emissions recall. In all instances, especially those on the interstates, I felt that I was at risk of being involved in or causing an accident as I had no control over maintaining forward momentum. I opened a case with FCA Customer Care (case# 86310172 ) but they will not share the case information with me for reasons of policy, so I-??ve no documentation to upload other than the engine replacement repair doc from the dealer. The information below reflects the latest incident.

Rapid loss of coolant over rear of engine and transmission bell housing. Danger of overheating and fire. The cause of the rapid coolant loss is a common well known problem - turbo coolant pipe! Of course the small tube requires cab off the repair - design flaw!! Additionally, being a known issues and the part that fails is rubber, FCA has not issued a recall or TSB for the replacement of the rubber part with a much more durable siliconized part. My rapid coolant loss occurred on a busy highway and the vehicle required towing - not safe!!!! BIG design flaw and safety issue!!!!!
