After one year from when I had purchased the truck, I noticed a valve ticking, then a month later I got a check engine light that came on with misfires on a cylinder 3 and 5. The truck would lose power and the ticking will go back and forth, making the engine run smooth and then misfiring when it came back.
I did all the work in my garage - the engine is fairly reasonable to work with and if you have some knowledge of mechanics you can definitely do it. Just be careful with the timing chain not to skip the bottom tooth, that was the hard part. Other than that was pretty standard. Because I was doing the job I bought everything from the dealer and it cost me $2,000 and $500 from extra parts and oils.
