According to diagnostics done on the truck, the control module for the power steering has shorted out. This is the same year make and model of trucks subjected to the recall associated with the same exact issue. Unfortunately when searching by my VIN, my truck doesn't seem to be included in the recall even though this is the exact same problem.

Steering wheel popping noise when turning the steering wheel left or right when turning the steering wheel to the left, there is a intermittent popping noise behind the dashboard around the steering column. At times I can feel vibration of the pop being transferred up the steering column to the steering wheel and into my hands. This popping noise started a month and a half ago and is progressively getting worse, more frequent, and has migrated when I turn the steering wheel to the right as well. This popping noise happens when the vehicle is in motion. On city streets. It has already been to the selling dealer three times and they won't look at it again until a Chrysler tech rep is available. They don't know when that will be. I have also contacted Chrysler and they also don't know when a Chrysler tech rep will be available.
