The contact owns a 2017 Ram 1500. When the temperature was below 30 degrees, the rpms increased to approximately 1,100 without warning. The vehicle was taken to russell barnett Ford (4055 tullahoma hwy, winchester, tn 37398) where it was diagnosed that the flash system needed to be reset and the throttle body needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer installed an ambient temperature sensor. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and opened case number: [xxx]. the contact was referred to a resolution team. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 92,003. The contact owns a 2017 Ram 1500. While traveling approximately 35 mph, the electric throttle control sensor indicator suddenly illuminated and the vehicle suddenly accelerated to approximately 55 mph. During the incident, the RPM's continued to rev extremely high and the driver was unable to stop the vehicle when depressing the brake pedal. The driver shifted to neutral in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (baumann automotive in norwalk, oh), but the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact indicated that the tow truck driver experienced the same failure when attempting to drive the vehicle onto the flatbed truck. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 978.
