Driving on highway like normal and all of a sudden, as the dash info alerted, the power steering went out. I slowed down and then it came back, all of a sudden! Now imagine fighting no power steering, then without indication it comes back! As I got to destination turning into parking lot it suddenly goes out again! Luckily no one coming opposite direction! This happened intermittently a few more times before it completely went out! Took to dealer, confirmed Rack and Pinion failed and part is backordered! Found under my own investigating that part of problem stems from battery terminal connection could be part of problem! Dealership replaced the power bank for Rack and Pinion also! Over this ordeal, I'm a big guy, so to have this issue happen was a struggle! Couldn't imagine if this happened to a female(NO OFFENSE), an older person, or younger unexperienced driver!

Driving when suddenly service power steering light comes on and loss of power steering. With only 122,000 km on a 2017 truck! Ask dealership and they are telling me 3000$ in parts alone, and the rack and pinion needs replacing however on back order for at least 1 month! Now own a boat anchor as the vehicle is undriveable and extremely unsafe to operate. Why is this not a safety recall?

Power steering control module has failed 5 times now on startup during cold weather. It is doing it at almost at 20 degrees or below. The dealership has verified a failure code in the EPS (Electronic Power Steering) system. The failure is for Loss of Communication with the steering torque module or sensor in the Rack and Pinion assembly.

They took apart the related connectors, checked them for corrosion and ohmed them out and did not find any issues with them. They suggest that I replace the Rack and Pinion, which will cost $2500.

I have read reports from others about this and they seem to have the same idea. There needs to be a recall and get parts in there that don't break. For the amount of money they are getting for these trucks, they should not be going bad.
