1500 Bighorn V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 34,000 miles

Bought a used 2018 Ram Bighorn for bout 40,000 with 32,000 miles on it in July of 2022, just what I wanted. After about a month the radio started changing channels randomly in Sirius, then a clock reset would come up and cover entire screen, go off, then on.... and then climate control would randomly go off and on, defrost and heater would randomly go off and on and the touch screen would not work. Also, I noticed the upper part of screen is washed out. Very frustrating 😤, I have extended warranty thru dealer I bought from going to take to Dealer in hometown to see if they can help.

Made appointment for two weeks out according to dealer (its middle of December 2022), now it hasn't been acting up for several days, and it's very cold out (don't know if that has anything to do with it). This is definitely a safety issue since the defrost and climate controls are not capable of working properly when this happens. Wishing for my 1970 Dodge pickup and 2004 Dakota back. There's something to say for old school technology or lack thereof.

1500 Bighorn V8 Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,000 miles

This is the second time I've had trouble with the touch screen control on a RAM truck. My 2009 Laramie had similar trouble but nearly this severe. The touch screen clearly is shorted out. The radio will randomly and frequently change stations, bands and beeps many times per second as it resets and "bounces" between settings. This also occurs when the ventilation screen is called up. Of course, the only mode affected is the one called up. For example, if I call up the ventilation mode, it goes crazy but the radio is stable. If I call up the settings function the radio and ventilation are stable. If I want to keep a function operating or radio on a certain station, I have to set it where I want it and quickly call up another function before it changes the radio station/band.

Sometimes I can't do that quickly enough. This problem also affects the regular push buttons below the touch screen. ie: when the ventilation function the touch rapidly and randomly changes the ventilation mode, and if it hit AC or recirculate, it turns on the corresponding push button. Additionally, the temperature setting scale goes up and down randomly.
