When ambient temp is below 32 degrees F and the vehicle has been sitting( overnight ) steering wheel only wiggles and cannot steer. When fully warmed up it will release. Depending on temp it can take up to half an hour to release.

power steering failure power steering failure

Lost power steering intermittently for about 1k miles before I could take my truck to the dealer. Maybe a dozen times. Dealer took two tries to fix the issue. I was driving home the first time after they supposedly fixed the issue. Got half way home and lost power steering again. I went back and they fixed the issue. Said a wire harness was incorrectly placed at the factory. A manager at the dealership took my truck home to verify the issue was fixed. Must have lived 35 miles away because there was an additional 70 miles on my odometer. The dealer also didn't replace the gas, although they gave me a loaner and told me that I had to gas it back up.

I guess that doesn't apply both ways.

Also gave them my truck clean and got it back dirty on the outside. Inside it looked the same. I washed their loaner because it was embarrassing to drive around town in a dirty truck. Oh well, the issue has been resolved and it's been over 500 miles since. Ram dealerships need to improve their service skills. Gas up if you use a customers gas. Wash a customers vehicle if you had it for more than 15 minutes. Next time I am going to the Cadillac dealer, they actually don't mind and welcome any make.

I purchased a used 2019 RAM 1500 Bighorn. The first week of having the vehicle power steering light came on, and I lost power steering while driving. Luckily it was early in the morning without many vehicles on the road. It took all the strength I had to get the vehicle over to a safe place. I then turned the vehicle off and then back on, the power steering returned for a short time.

I drove up the road a little way, and the power steering went out again. I turned the vehicle off then on again, the same problem. Finally, after the fourth attempt, the vehicle power steering remained on just long enough for me to get it to the dealer. I was just called and told it was a loose ground wire. I'm not comfortable driving the truck, a horrifying situation.

My RAM1500 had a terrible situation happened today. At the beginning, all the trouble light turned on one by one as I was driving. Then, I heard very loud noise came from my car engine, other trouble lights were off but engine trouble light still on. The worst thing happened when I had a left turn in traffic light. All the trouble lights on and my car steering wheel could not control. The feeling is like someone lock my steering wheel while I was hold and turn it. It was very horrible since my kids were all sit behind.

We drove and park in a side street, and call service department. This is the second time that happened on our car. We told them that the service department checked after the first time happen, they said everything is good. But it happened again!!!!!!! We drove to the service department. At the beginning, the guy who work in the service department said It happened sometimes, it will be fixed after that. However,When we asked them if they could guarantee this situation will never happen again? He said no and he changed his words to "this situation rarely happen, just small chance. Moreover, when we said if today we were driving in highway, we might lay down in hospital now. He showed that he did not really care about it. And he said no worry, it will be good to drive after we fixed. I wanna know how could we believed that will not happen again as it was the second time happen to our car????

We record all the videos when those situations happen. We will wait and see how are they going to solve this problems?

power steering failure power steering failure

While driving my work today I was taking a left turn and my power steering stopped working at approx 30mph. My car had the power steering light pop up and also my screen in my gauge clustered said, "Power Steering Unavailable Service Required." I literally almost crashed into a huge electrical pole. due to my steering while becoming extremely stiff. My current mileage is 2270.6 miles. About a minute later my power steering came back and my truck was fine.

While parking my truck at work in the parking lot about 5 min. after the first failure my power steering failed again but came back within seconds.

On the way home from work my power steering failed and didn't come back for about 8mins/several miles. My power steering continues to fail then come back to normal then fail again.

Extremely dangerous!
