1500 Limited 5.7L V8

I have a 2019 Ram Limited that I've just discovered recently has several leaks coming into the cab of the truck. I found this about a month ago when I pulled up my floormats to vacuum the carpets. The drives side floor board was completely soaked with about an inch of standing water. I took used my shop vac to extract as much of the water as I could and then went to see my local Dodge Ram dealer. I was told this was a known problem with this truck and that it was because the third brake light seal had failed. So I had them replace it for $230. Needless to say the next time it rained water got into the truck again. I took it back to the dealer to troubleshoot which resulted in an estimate to replace the back window at the cost of $1650. I told them I couldn't understand how a leak from that location ended up in the drivers floorboard but they explained that as the water leaks into the headliner that it collects there and then when the truck is moving that the water travels thru the drain channel to the front of the truck. Sounded like BS to me so I started watching some YouTube videos and came across this one that addressed the issue https://youtu.be/sx1pRh3nAXQ?si=EcJNqNUS9WHdlPfB. I would like to know if anyone else has seen this or has been able to fix the leak into the front drivers side floorboard.

leaking rear window leaking rear window leaking rear window leaking rear window leaking rear window

Lately I’ve had noticed a foul smell coming from the back seat of my truck. Today I noticed that there’s two cracks on the window frame and water was pouring into the truck and soaking into my seat . I researched this issue and it seems like it is a pretty common problem. My truck is a 2019 with 52,000 lies on the odometer. I contacted it Ram customer service and I made an appointment with my local dealer . I will update this after I get it fix.

Update from Feb 12, 2024: There was two water leaks . 3rd brake Light Lamp and rear back window water leak . 3rd brake light Lamp was replaced but still waiting on the parts to fix the back window leaks. Been waiting since before December 19 2023 and I was told parts will arrived by March 14th 2024 . Today I had the truck towed to the dealer . Tranny oil cooler lines has a pin hole . Truck wasn’t drivable. 53,641 miles on odometer.

Update from Jun 23, 2024: There was two water leaks , 3rd brake light lamp and back window. Both issues were repaired free of charge. Right after this issue was repaired transmission cooler line started leaking and that was also repaired free of charge.

Ram acknowledges the issue and has service bulletins to identify it as well as a class action suit but fails to take any action to help customers.

My truck was not turning over intermittently, I had to have it towed to a dealer. Tow bill was. $400. Then I got a call from the dealer and was informed the rear window was leaking and it shorted out the RF module. Total repair bill will be $1954.00 plus tax. Replacing rear window, third brake light gasket. and the RF module. It should be covered by Ram as they are aware of the problem, but the dealer said it's out of my pocket.

leaking rear window leaking rear window leaking rear window

Woke up tried to unlock the truck... nothing happened. Tried to use the app to unlock my truck.. nothing happened. While manually unlocking my truck at 9am with the alarm blaring, I noticed Nothing in my truck worked. Radio, unlock, lock buttons nothing worked. Tried jumping my truck nothing happened. After reviewing forums online I noticed a lot of people saying check the back seal on the back sliding window. Once upon inspection I saw the infamous cracks on both side of the plastic seal inside the truck cab. I lifted up my weather tech floor mats and saw mold on one side of the trucks floor mat. Since the truck wasn't drivable I had no choice but to send it to the Stealer. My truck has 40,000 miles on it 2019 ram 5th gen.

Once the dealer inspected it, they said there is a module that sits in the back of the truck underneath the rear window. Water worked its way to it and damaged the RF module which controls the functionality of the whole truck. I only have the powertrain warrantee left since I bought pre certified used with 19,000 miles on the truck. After talking to the dealer they said that they will have to replace the whole back window and RF module and harness and quoted me at 3 grand! They said nothing is covered. And even if I had bumper to bumper extended warrantee, it would have only covered the back glass since they don't cover water damage. So I had to get my insurance involved. My insurance was able to get me a rental car. The insurance only will cover the Module since its a "flood issue" but will not cover the glass since its a "part issue" and is just the material Ram used to weaken over time.

So I'm stuck with a $1500 bill to pay. Ram/FCA will not cover it since the 3 yr 36,000 mile is expired and they don't look at it as a "safety issue" and won't do a recall even though this dates back to the 4th gen Rams doing the same thing .If my truck randomly shuts off on the highway due to this damage ITS A SAFTEY ISSUE. Not to mention the airbags near the same area getting water damaged. I'm worried down the road that this can potentially happen again. My dealership will give me a warrantee on the new work done however if the module gets wet again, it STILL WONT BE COVERED. Just bullshit that you pay all this money and yet this KNOWN issue still isn't covered, I love the truck but this issue will prevent me from getting another ram and increase my chances of trading this one in.

I am another owner with the problem of a rear window developing a leak at the corner of the window. This is obviously a design defect as many people have this problem and RAM and the MOPAR warranties refuse to cover it.

RAM claims it is caused by cracking of the seal, thus allowing small amounts of water to enter. RAM dealership can't get it covered and wants around $2000 for the repair.

RAM should have stepped up long ago to address this design defect and cover the costs, regardless of mileage. Mine is under 3 years old with 63000 miles.
