1500 Rebel 5.7L V8

Ram knows there is an issue, multiple TSB's issued. Not sure what the fix is, but I hope they figure it out.

For what you pay for a Ram, I would expect a better means to fill the vehicle without any problems. First noticed it in October as it got colder. When at any gas station, the pump would just click off whether I was holding it or using one of the handle notches. After a few additional tries, gas overflows everywhere on me, the truck, and the ground. I never did get a full tank of gas. I know the site says to report each occurrence, but it happens ALL the time now. I am taking in to the dealership to see if they have a fix under the warranty.

Have been reading that similar years have had fuel problems as well but not sure if this is the same as the other problem. It seemed to be the pump not shutting off at all between years 2015 and 2019. Got the truck in July and there's only about 8k miles on it currently. Maybe they fixed the previous problem too much. Anyways, I am guessing it has something to do with cold weather and the fuel vent maybe getting water condensation in the line and freezing blocking the air flow. I think it has one of the new carbon filters but not sure. That could be getting frozen too, or something, who knows.

I am not an expert, but the people that are should know this is not just extremely annoying when fueling, but also very dangerous. Plus no one wants to smell like they rolled around in a gas can, and it shouldn't take 30 min to fill 30 gallons of gas because it keeps shutting off. If they fix it, great, problem solved; if they do not it is very likely I will sell it and forget Ram exists. Enough said.

1500 Laramie Sport 4x4 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,983 miles

Bought a 2020 Ram (Laramie crew cab 4 x 4) NEW off the floor. Approximately 9 months later I started having terrible problems with filling the tank with gas. Only at a trickle could I put gas in. Even below the first point on the pump to hold the handle, it kept shutting off as if the tank was full. I could only hold the handle to allow gas to trickle in. It took nearly 20 minutes to put in 10 gallons.

I would think this should be a manufacturer's repair at their expense by now since the problem has been reported several years back as an ongoing problem. The proper Government Agency should have made the manufacturer either do a recall or issue a free fix. I contacted my dealership who gave me a complete run around saying they have never heard of such a problem. They offered a diagnostic test, telling me it may not be covered under warranty. 3 thousand 8 hundred and 70 some miles and not even a year old. They said it may take over a week to fix. I told them I live over an hour's drive and would need a loaner car to which they said would not be possible as it was not a warranty issue.

You can bet your behind side I will get a free loaner or be sleeping at the dealership.

THIS ISSUE MUST BE GIVEN A FREE FIX BY THE MANUFACTURER DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES FROM SPILLING GAS.
