After I got the vehicle, during the first winter in January of 2021, I was filling up the vehicle at a gas station in Kansas. The fuel pump clicked off long before the tank was full and continued to click off every 3 seconds or so when attempting to continue. I stopped filling the tank at about half full after about 20 minutes in the freezing outside temperatures thinking it might have been something wrong with the pump. The gas gauge only read 1/2 full. I went to the next exit and tried again. Same situation. It took forever and finally after repeating this for about another 20 minutes, it finally did go to full but then leaked gasoline everywhere like it didn't stop because it was clogged or something. Seems to do it frequently when temps are below freezing. What ever repairs were supposedly made, did not work. I am very concerned this is a fire hazard potential if not corrected. I took it to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and they claimed they replaced the fuel nozzle. But it continues to do this every time it gets below freezing. I am wondering if moisture / vapor is becoming frozen in the line, or that the fuel nozzle system is of poor design where the tank cannot keep up with the venting. Perhaps it was the manufacturer trying to comply with environmental regulations, but failed. In any case I worry about the fuel leaking out and catching on fire from driving or static. It is a serious problem!

Fuel tank malfunctions. It will not relieve pressure to fill up. Have to continually pump gas for a long time for it to fill the tank up. This has happened on multiple replacement tanks. Yes, it is available for inspection. My safety and others is put at risk because it allows gas to overflow while filling up with the automatic pump. Also due to having trouble putting fuel in it causing me to run out of fuel in the middle of traffic. This is the 3rd gas tank I've had on my dodge ram's that has had the same problem. This has happened on multiple Dodge Ram 1500's that I have owned. The component has only been inspected by the dealership when sent in for repair/replacement on each occasion. It has consistently shown to have this problem when the vehicle gets to about 40,000-70,000 miles on the vehicle. There are no warning signs or symptoms that show before it happens.

The last 3 times I tried to fill my fuel tank the fuel would trickle in to the tank and the pump would shut off. The last time when the tank was finally full, after 10 plus minutes of fueling, the pump did not shut off and gas splashed back at me. It is not the pump because the fill ups were at different gas stations. There has been a Service Tech Bulletin but when I contact RAM they gave me the impression that I would be responsible for the cost of the repairs. This problem is well documented online, numerous complaints, and I feel it is a tremendous safety issue. I have an open case with FCA and we will see how that goes.

I was made aware of this recall in October via mail, and since then have tried to make contact with the dealership. I purchased from Carmax and bought the MaxCare warranty, but seeing as this is a recall I took the vehicle to RAM after receiving the recall notice. I told them how this is a serious recall and the fact that there is no remedy was unsafe for me to continue driving. They assured me that RAM was working on it. They offered me the option of purchasing my truck for less than I owed on it and to roll over the remaining balance into a new loan. I declined. On February 3, 2023 I was driving and my vehicle jolted and shut off. Upon starting it up again my check engine light came on. I drove half a mile to a Big O Tires shop to run the code. On a Solis Ultra reader it ran 088 - High Pressure in Fuel Rail. So i took the vehicle straight to the RAM dealership where they offered me the same resolution as last time. I declined and went to Carmax and stated that I am paying for a vehicle that I now cannot drive due to safety and since I have MaxCare that I should be entitled to another vehicle of equitable value since there is currently no remedy. I was told to go back to RAM and talk to manufacturer. I spoke with RAM care and opened a claim and was advised that a remedy is expected in quarter 2 of 2023. After several calls to many different case managers, I was advised that I would have to get a rental out of my own pocket and would hopefully get reimbursed, and that I would have to wait after the weekend to hear anything else. The service rep told me that since there is no remedy currently, the best they can do is look at it and if there are no issues to put the fuel pump back in. This is an unsafe vehicle, and I refuse to continue paying for something that does not work due to the manufacturers fault, nor am I willing to rollover another vehicle loan payment since they are not open to equitable trades.

While filling up with gas the gas pump will cut off after pumping a small amount. I reposition the pump into the neck of the gas tank and try to pump more gas. The same problem occurs. You can only pump 25 to 50 cents of gas at a time. I called the dealer today after researching on line to see if there was a recall. They told me to bring it in, they would get to it in a few weeks. I researched to find there is not a recall on my truck for this problem but other 1500. My truck is having the same issue. I will update this case once its diagnosed by the dealer.

When accelerating from a stop the truck loses power and fails to respond. The engine is working but the transmission fails to engage and the truck just coasts until all-of-a-sudden it jerks back into motion. The vehicle will also lunge forward when coming to a stop as if the transmission catches and decides to accelerate momentarily. This is a serious safety issue when pulling out into traffic and has almost caused me to be involved in two accidents.

Unable to put fuel into tank. The nozzle repeatedly kicks off when attempting to fuel truck. Fuel is spit back out the filler hole no matter how the nozzle inserted. I have attempted three time at three different gas station, all with the same result. I have had the dealership look at it. I got the impression it is a somewhat common problem. There advice was to replace the fuel tank and charcoal canister, at a cost of $1600. A search of your web site has four of the five complaints, in the Fuel/Propulsion systems are the same as mine.

At a gas pump, the vehicle would not fill up. Constantly kicking the pump off. Took to the dealership, replaced the tank december 2021. Ram has several technical service bulletins on various years of the 1500 having fueling issues. This started around 27000 miles. March 7, 2022 started having the same issue. Contacted fca about issue. They said see dealer and they would pass the information along to their people. Again, truck will be going back for this issue.

The fuel filler line isn't working properly. The pump shuts off continuously when trying to fill the tank. It only fills a couple of seconds then shuts off. It can take 15 - 20 minutes to fill a tank of gas.

Truck fails to properly accelerate creating dangerous moments when attempting to pull into traffic.problem seems to occur more frequent in warmer weather but is occurring more frequently as mileage accumulates. This issue did not occur in the first 3-4000 miles. But now occurs quite frequently. When it happens the accelerator is fully depressed with extremely slow engine acceleration. The first experience with issue a service electronic throttle warning displayed. The cel set at that time cleared by itself. Dealer has been unable to determine cause. This problem seems like it is engine & boost management related.

Usually, the gas nozzle automatically turns off the gas when the tank is full. While waiting for this to happen, hand on nozzle holding it open, the gas overfilled, gushed out of the fill tube, and out from under the truck. A big puddle of gas on the ground. I thought the nozzle shutoff malfunctioned. I went to fill my truck again on 5/5. I put the nozzle into the fill tube and squeezed the handle. Gas gushed out of the fill tube right away, out from under the truck and creating another large puddle of gas on the concrete. I had a similar, no cap, filling tube on my 2013 F-150 and never had this problem in 7 years. So I called my dealer to report this and see if others have had the same problem. I was told there is a second valve in the fill tube and I need to insert the nozzle all the way into the spring. I haven't had a chance to see if this corrects the problem. However, many times when I have tried to fill various vehicles that I have owned, sometimes I have to pull the nozzle slightly out to keep the automatic turn off from coming on so I can fill the tank. I never top off, add more gas after the automatic switch turns the pump off. I think this is a poor design or something wrong with my fill tube. I'm sure others will be doing the same thing I did and raw gas all over the ground and vehicle isn't very safe. Both times vehicle was stationary and engine off at the filling station. I will take pictures if this happens again.

Vehicle throttle maximized when I pressed the brake to stop. After impact with another vehicle the throttle went back to the idle position. I was merging in traffic onto another street. The vehicle in front of me was stopped for the merger.
