Had a suspicion that my 5.7 hemi had a roller that seized for one of the lifters and I was right. Started out with a slight metal on metal rubbing noise when you would start it cold. I bought a brand new oil drain pan and when I drained the oil for an oil change found very fine metal shavings, cut the oil filter open and the same thing. Figured, well, I'll order parts and replace them.
I went to get the lifters and I was going to go with updated Chrysler oem for it and they're on backorder with no eta. Absolutely ridiculous. No support from Chrysler for this either and they deem it as a wearable item blah blah blah. Yeah it's wearable but I would expect to make it to at least 250k. Total engine hours is just under 3800 (I think, haven't driven it much since I found the metal shavings). I did buy the truck used but it had the service record from the previous owners and it had regular oil changes. I always bought Dodges but idk about now. Waiting for a response from customer assistance from Ram to see what they say.
