The recall for fixing the drag link separation is not safe. You do not weld on steering components as you change the molecular structure of the material and also you cannot adjust toe in and toe out no longer. This to me is creating a dangerous and at best a poor band aid fix that is making a new potential problem.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in an open recall regarding NHTSA campaign number: 19V021000 (steering). Bob moore Ford (8948 S I-35 service rd, Oklahoma city, ok 73149) and the manufacturer stated that the parts were unavailable. The manufacturer also stated that they would weld the drag link, which the contact felt was not a proper repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The dealer was not notified. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing the same symptoms as listed in NHTSA campaign number: 19V021000 (steering). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 17,800.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. While driving various speeds, the vehicle began to pull to the right without warning. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (South county Ram in gilroy 455 automall drive, gilroy, ca 95020) where it was diagnosed that an alignment was needed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the caster failed and needed to be adjusted or a ball joint needed to be applied. The dealer stated that no known solution was available. The failure was persistent. The contact took the vehicle to two different dealers (1. South county Ram in gilroy 455 automall drive, gilroy, ca 95020 and 2. boardwalk Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 1 bair island road, redwood city, ca 94063). The diagnostic results were the same at both dealers. The manufacturer was contacted. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was approximately 326. Updated 08/30/17
