ABS warning light comes on and message to get ABS serviced appears...took truck to local auto repair and they checked ABS and said ABS module was bad...tried to get part but was told it would be June 2024 ( 6 mos ) before part would be available...was told this was a common problem and it SHOULD be a recall on the module but so far no recall..I got on line and found out that this part is defective and can cause serious brake problems...Class action suit is in the works

At exactly 75100 miles my 2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman gets a warning light to service my anti-lock braking system. Since I was on a trip I also noticed when the warning comes on it also disengages the cruise control. This has been happening for over 1,000 miles and a couple of months. I've tried to look up to see if there's a recall, but there isn't. I do see several hundred posts/complaints online and even other people contacting NHTSB about this issue. My truck seems to be acting fine now, but I haven't had the time to bring it into a dealership since I'm constantly on the road. I have tried to contact a Ram dealership service department, but no help come of it. Since Ram knows about this, they should recall the trucks and fix them.

My ABS and traction control lights come on and off. When the lights are on I have no ABS or cruise control. When the lights turn on and off it's a distraction to my driving. If I am driving with cruise control and the ABS light activates I lose cruise control and have an abrupt decrease in speed. If I brake on a slick surface such as mud without ABS sometimes I skid and my stopping distance is increased.

I purchased the truck used from Kunes dealership in Sterling Illinois with about 80k miles. It shifted harder than I was use to in low gears, right off the bat. I was advised everything was good with it at the oil changes and inspections. In June 2023 I noticed it would not shift into reverse and without yanking in the shifter. It lunges once forward while in park in my driveway. At just over 100k miles the check engine light came on. Coded as needing a new transmission. Also in September 2023 while driving it a brake warning light flickered in and went off. Haven-??t seen it again. I think there are problems with this truck. The shifting slow and hard in low gears seemed odd and I worried about proper acceleration to avoid a rear end collision. I understand very little about vehicles but this one has been doing dangerous things that makes me worry about the safety of it.

ABS HCU and control module repeat failures. Initial failure when vehicle purchased 12/20/19 (repaired by warranty replacement on 2/25/2020 @625 miles of the HCU and ABS control module). Current failure 12/18/2023 @ 6300 miles.) So the failure problem is recurrent. Failures are intermittent and cause deactivation of the ABS, ESC, and Cruise control systems. This results in sudden change (slowing) of vehicle speed upon cruise deactivation. Also the loss of ABS and ESC can be hazardous depending upon roadway conditions and vehicle operation at time of failures. Failures can persist for days or perhaps subside for a brief time. This vehicle problem apparently exists on more than one 2018 2500 RAM. When at the dealer for first failure repair, two other 2018 RAM 2500's were in service for the exact same issues. Got a code for service abs system, abs module pump bad. Ram cannot even get people in to fix the issue and they want like 2000 dollars out the door to fix this unsafe issue. I also have no cruise control now and no abs. This is an absolute shame that my truck only has 66k mostly highway miles and is now worthless because I cannot afford to fix it. Ram will not fix this issue under warranty. There is a current lawsuit under James Neu vs. Fiat Chrysler to get them to make this a warranty issue and fix it. Please please please release the recall so we can get our trucks fixed! Thousands of trucks are affected and at risk of accident. abs pump motor control-general electrical failure Going down the road it will flash service abs brake failure( something to that effect) then instrument lights abs, traction control come on with constant chime beeping. If you are on cruise control it will quit.. also abs and traction control don't work and will not engage.Not very safe to drive in wet conditions. Took to dealer ( code 45806) and person pulled code dtc C0020-01 stored abs pump motor control-general electrical failure. Was told need up to 5 days to diagnose problem and with holidays I will wait til after Jan 1 to take it in. Problem comes and goes but will come on everytime I drive it then after a restart it might go away. Dealer visit was 12-18-2023 time 12:41 pm dealer code 45806 will have the info.

Originally I started feeling like my brakes weren't stopping as well as they had been. The pedal seemed to feel soft and have further travel than normal. I recently had my brakes inspected by a certified mechanic, so I was confident it wasn't the actual brake pads, rotors, or calipers. After a day of this I started getting intermittent ABS system and traction control lights. About a day or two later the lights became more frequent until they eventually stayed on. During that time I was out of town while pulling my fifth wheel camper, so I wasn't in a good position to get the truck to a mechanic. Needless to say I felt my situation was becoming unsafe. Once I returned home I got the truck in to my mechanic and his troubleshooting led to a faulty ABS module and Hydraulic Control Unit. This was a very expensive repair. Once I was told what the diagnosis was I started to research this issue online. This is when I discovered that others were having this same issue and that the NHTSA had already opened up an investigation into this.

The malfunction causes the anti-lock brakes service light as well as the traction control service light to be on. This malfunction renders both systems to be inoperable, thus causing a major safety concern.

The "Check Antilock Brake" message appears on the dashboard. The vehicle has been inspected by a mechanic who confirmed that it is either the supplementary brake fluid pump, or the brake pump control unit. Because of the intermittent nature of the problem, the manufacturer requires replacement of both expensive parts, as they do not know the exact problem. Because of the issue, the following vehicle features do not function: * anti-lock brake system * electronic stability control / traction control * cruise control * the holding of the rear brake on a hill until the operator accelerates (important in a standard transmission truck used for towing)

2018 Dodge Ram 2500. I have been working with the dealer to have the ABS module repaired for over 6 months. All 2017 and 2018 2500 and 3500 are having issues with the ABS module not working properly. The dodge representative said there is not a fix and does not know when one will be available.

The ABS failed at 34k miles. The ABS and/or traction control lights turn on intermittently while driving. Using a scanner I see Code C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control Electrical Failure. I called dealerships and many online vendors and parts are on national backorder 1yr. I don't let the family ride in my truck anymore due to safety concerns. Even a slight touch of the brakes and my truck skids. It's wet and cold here in Seattle making it even more dangerous.

Dodge is saying no replacement until March 2024. There is a recall to fix 2019 and newer so not sure why 2018 was excluded from this recall to fix a serious safety malfunction in the braking system.

ABS/Traction Control dash light comes on and off randomly all the time. The sound is infuriating and kicks off cruise control. Today I came over a hill on highway and there were cars stopped in all lanes ahead. I stepped on the brakes hard and the abs didn't work causing the tires to lock up. I did not hear or feel the normal pulsing in the pedal. I feel there is an actual problem with the abs system and not just an annoying chime and light on the dash. There are thousands of threads about this problem online and I feel that it is cause for a recall. I checked with local dealer and the parts are extremely limited supply because of all the people with the same problem.
