DEF sensor malfunctions, threatening to limit vehicle to 5 mph or stop completely. This is because DEF fluid freezes in cold weather. Sensor reads that DEF tank is empty, even when it is full. Contacted local dealer who confirmed the issue and noted that it is a prevalent problem and he has a backlog of trucks with the same issue. I consider this a safety issue, as I could be stranded on the road in winter conditions or not have access to my vehicle in case of emergency. Google search shows that this is a significant issue affecting many people. Dealer said that the only solution is to put the vehicle in a heated garage for several days to defrost the DEF and allow the sensor to reset. They currently have a backlog of several weeks. And then what happens when you get it back" You hope it doesn't refreeze and strand you on the road somewhere"
