Brought my 2004 Ion in for a clunk under car. Was told it was the sway bar. So had that fixed. Still was hearing the clunk. Took it back was told it was the controller arm and front struts. Would cost $700 to fix. So made an appt to get that fixed. While waiting for the car the writer came out and said well now it will cost $2000!!!!! Said need back shocks also. Only had part of if fixed b/c I couldn't afford the cost. I am actually taking my car to a different garage for a second opinion.
I just want to rant because I see others had the same problem. I have a friend that has a 2006 Ion and she has the same clunking noise under her car. I have another friend who had an Saturn Aura and he also had to have the sway bar fixed. Just sounds like a big problem with the Saturns!!!
Update from Jun 24, 2013: Took my car to a different person, he fixed the problem right away. It was the bushing on the sway bar that had to be fixed. So it appears the sway bar wasn't replaced. I found my old slips and the first place had replaced the links. I admit I no nothing about cars, but I really felt I could trust the first place as I had taken it there for a long time. The second place fixed the clunk, I needed brakes in the back and shocks in the back for much less than what the first place was going to charge me also.
