It began with a very strong odor of Gasoline, then it developed a starting problem, have to crank it three or four times before it started. Googled it and found that Saturn has and have a problem with the gas line breaking or cracking, (plastic lines). I spoke to saturn and they just flat out refused to admit they had a problem. There was a recall of these autos in certain states, but Ky was not one of them, yet it was the same identical problem that existed. I have been driving GM vehicles for many years, but the next auto I purchase will not be a GM.

It started with my car getting harder to start this past month. I had to turn it twice and hold for awhile. Then two days ago (Nov. 2) I start to smell gas when I get out of the car. I google searched the problem and found others with the same complaint. They had a cracked hose that connected to the fuel pump, which made the only solution to replace the whole fuel pump. I looked at my car after work, and sure enough there is gas leaking under my car at the back where the gas tank/fuel pump is. I took it to the dealership and they called me in the morning to let me know I needed a new fuel pump. There is currently a recall out on (Posted Oct. 29) 2006 Saturn Ion for this exact problem, but it does not cover Texas. So I am buying a new fuel pump with the hope that the recall will extend to Texas to reimburse me. Anyone else with this problem needs to file, so the recall can take effect.

I had started getting a strong smell of fuel on the inside of my vehicle. I took it to an auto shop and they replaced the fuel pump module. It cost me around $450. A year later I got a recall notice in the mail about it and GM reimbursed me for the costs.
