Just received letter from GM telling me the "plastic supply or return port on the modular reservoir assembly (MRA) may crack. If either of these ports develop a crack, fuel will leak from the area." I received this letter apparently because I have moved to a southern state with high summer temperatures. Unbelievably, the letter goes on to say I "may notice a fuel odor while the vehicle is being driven or after it is parked", HUH?? It goes on to say "If the crack becomes large enough, fuel may be observed dripping onto the ground and vehicle performance may be affected". YA THINK? LIKE A CAR FIRE? UH HUH!
In BOLD PRINT the letter says "DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO YOU GM DEALER AS A RESULT OF THIS LETTER UNLESS YOU BELIEVE THAT YOUR VEHICLE HAS THE CONDITION DESCRIBED ABOVE. It goes on to say GM is providing "Additional Protection" for the fuel pump module...so GM WANTS TO PROVIDE US WITH "ADDITIONAL WARRANTY PROTECTION" but doesn't want us to darken their door to have the repair done pro-actively...ARE THEY WAITING FOR US TO SELF-IMMOLATE? ARE THEY HOPING WHEN THE CAR BURNS, UP THE OWNER'S AUTO INSURANCE WILL PAY SO GM DOESN'T HAVE TO BEAR THE COST OF FIXING THEIR LOUSY MISTAKE? COME ON GM, DO THE RIGHT THING NOW, FIX MY CAR NOW! WHY WAIT TILL I AM INJURED IN A CAR FIRE? WHY WAIT TILL THE CAR BURNS AND TAKES OUT OTHER PROPERTY WITH IT? I WILL NEVER, EVER AGAIN BUY ANOTHER GM VEHICLE, COUNT ON IT.

Hello you bailled out bastards again, So now we have another problem with the same 06 saturn ion car but now it is the fuel port on top of gas tank that is cracked and leakin gas on the ground.I called saturn dealer and to no suprise there is no recall on this problem another $100.00 spent on extended warranty to repair this bull sh*t piece of car.If it were left up to me this car would be upside down in the ceo/president of saturn yard but he was not at home because he took part in the bail-out money granted and went on vacation with his huge bonus they received while my daughter-in-law has to spend money for repairs and a rental car while her husband is defending our country and on a limited pay check uncle sam pays him for defending our great country and allows you to be on your spending spree.
Wake up you bastards and do your part in recalling a problem car before some-one dies. But what do you care it is not one of your kids or family because they probably drive a totaly different vehicle or they are chauffered around.

Smelled fuel and found out that the top of the fuel tank was cracked and leaking. Was able to get GM to fix for free. It was not a recall but part of a "campaign" that they don't notify you about. A campaign has a expiration date and a recall does not. This is why they do a campaign instead of a recall. I was lucky and just made it under the campaign before the expiration date. They had to put in a new fuel tank, houses, evaporator canister and fuel pump. This car is a POS!
