problem #2

Ion 2.2L

  • Manual transmission
  • 106,000 miles

car quits and tells me it is "under thermostat temp range"

The car dies in traffic, and has to be pushed out of danger. This is after a new thermostat, and temperature sensor (twice). Cart shows no sign of overheating, nor head gasket issues. The radiator fan runs properly, and if I run the heater, I can driive all day long!

Update from Jun 23, 2016: Well, I changed the thermostat, and refilled the cooling system. Onc3e I got all the air out, and filled the overflow, this problem is fixed. Even though the one I removed worked in a pan of boiling water, it apparently had a problem. I also corrected the intermittent temp reading, which brought my AC back on line. All better now! :)

I could be on the interstate and all of the sudden my car just shut its self off. I don't understand.... When i drive through town it would do that to but when i tried to start it sometimes it wouldn't start for about 10-20 mins.
