Each of the last 4 years during the winter months I have had this issue present itself. Driving down the road and warning lights start coming on; SERVICE STABILITRAK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED; etc. that last one is the worse!
You're going down the highway doing 65mph and within seconds you're car decides to limit you to 15mph. I can not believe someone has not been involved in a serious accident due to this issue!
Anyway each of the last 4 years the dealership gives me a new P code claiming it is something different. They have claimed, mass air-flow sensor, camshaft sensor, and now its bad throttle body. My research every year leads me to sludge / oil in the inlet intake duct that is freezing! Last year the shop returned my car to me before cleaning up their mess - the engine had yellow goo (sludge) all over the place; which confirmed to me the root cause! Unfortunately each year
Seems mechanics these days are robots; they see a code and follow instructions to make that code go away instead of diagnosing and fixing the root cause! The manufacture has issued a TSB for this issue; apparently my dealer isn't following it; or more likely they are and simply telling me they are completing other work to get paid.
