HVAC blower motor stopped working via the control knob. Through online forums & repair guides, I did some troubleshooting to determine which component I might need to order (i.e. fuse, relay, blower motor assembly, blower resistor, etc). During that research, many others noted that the blower resistor is known to become defective, and that melting of the resistor & the harness connector are common. This is exactly the situation I found, and it is not at all unreasonable to conclude that this could have easily resulted in a fire. These same parts are shared by the Pontiac Solstice and the Hummer H3 (for which, I believe, a recall was issued). The parts to fix this problem are not overly expensive & readily available -- and the replacement process is not difficult. What IS difficult is to think this is a known problem which can (& has) caused vehicle fires, and yet no recall or official notice has been issued to warn vehicle owners.

The Saturn Skys have the same electrical problem that the Hummer did that were recalled under NHTSA campaign number: Xxxxxxxxx. The resistor on the blower motor gets hot and melts. Further, they are the same parts. Also, it is known and continually discussed online: Https://www.skyroadster.com/forums/F2/fan-blower-resistor-replacement-95885/ https://www.skyroadster.com/forums/F2/why-did-my-blower-motor-resistor-wireing-harnas-hot-wire-burn-off-41356/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/buyers-guide-other-roadster/ consumer stated in the affected vehicles, the connector module that controls the blower motor speed for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system may overheat. If the blower motor connector module overheats, it can increase the risk of a fire. HVAC connector wire failure. GM part 25797383. Known issue and recall with Hummer H3 and reported issue with Saturn Sky and Pontiac solstice. 2007 Saturn Sky redline presented with HVAC blower failure. Upon inspection an overheated, melted and blackened wiring harness detector was identified as the cause of the failure. Research confirmed that this is a frequent problem with this connector. GM has replaced the part with part number 25949869. A recall for the Saturn Sky or Pontiac solstice has not been issued.

After a GM ignition recall on Saturn Sky--we received notice and took our car to the GM shop to do the work. However now the "airbag warning light" stays on---we did much research and replaced the passenger side seat cushion and sensor-----this did not result in the airbag warning light going off--we took it to the GM dealer to do a diagnostic to see why the seat/sensor replacement did not fix the problem and they state the seat is properly installed and it is not causing the airbag warning light issue---but they did not tell us what was the diagnosed problem. Many Saturn Sky owners have written to you and are very concerned about the safety of their families, the fact they cannot pass state required safety inspections; which renders their GM product completely useless. GM has never responded to these issues for Saturn Sky owners or for Pontiac solstice owners and the NHTSA likewise have not responded to this dangerous issue, despite numerous complaints. Many other air bag issues have been addressed by your board for a variety of vehicles---why not this one" I will be approaching my state and federal representatives with this concern as well; it is a public safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately. My husband has also written to the NHTSA has never responded. Will you respond now"

Typical engineered problems @ low mileage: Seat air bag sensor, dash info lights, check engine light and extremely noisy ac system. A recall would be nice, but the car is an orphan. (a discontinued vehicle, with little support.) safe at any speed ?

I received notice that my vehicle had been recalled and contacted my dealer "airport Chevrolet" in medford Oregon for an appointment to get it repaired. It has now been about two months and the dealer is still claiming that they have not received the necessary parts. It seems to me that General Motors is dragging their feet, two months is longer than it takes to receive a special order car.
