About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The 2008 Saturn Sky has a safety defect whereby the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) becomes inoperative during general maintenance. The tire pressure display will not display any tire pressure data while the vehicle is stationary or moving. When the vehicle battery is replaced the rcdlr (remote control door lock lock receiver module) loses its keyless entry transmitter and tire pressure monitoring data. The rcdlr will no longer receive data from the tire pressure sensors in each tire rendering the system inoperative. Since vehicle battery replacement is a normal maintenance item I do not believe this safety system (TPMS) should become inoperative when performing that maintenance task. General Motors is aware of the condition and has authored bulletin #08-03-16-001B to correct the issue at owner expense. I believe the failure of this safety system should be covered by a recall.
