While driving at approximately 60 miles per hour going down a mountain the left rear wheel fell inward toward the frame, I fought to control this VUE while dogging oncoming traffic. After almost hitting a vehicle head on I was able to get this VUE to swing toward a guard rail on the other side of the roadway and miss the vehicle, BUT my fight was not over, I then had to fight this VUE to keep from hitting the guardrail. I was somehow able to get the VUE back into the roadway and then slowly hit the brakes until I got it stopped at the bottom of the mountain, I can tell you this much! If my wife had been driving when this happened I would have lost my whole family. This has turned me against ever wanting to buy any GM vehicles in the future, now I have a pretty paper weight setting in my driveway that I cannot use. (I'm not sure I want to), I found out after checking web sites that this same thing has happened to other VUEs and nothing was put out on it. What is wrong with you GM? is making cheap vehicles and saving money worth killing people and there loved ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the VUE towed home and after checking to see what happened, I found that a bolt had broken, which in turn broke the sub frame causing the tire to fall inward hitting the shock, I was shocked to see how thin the metal was that the sub frame was made out of. "All I can say is if you own a VUE", please check what I have said here. It could save your life and your family's life.
