The day I bought this car and drove it off the lot, this "warm-up" noise was present. Once warmed up it completely goes away. I even drove back to the carl lot and started up a new one still for sale......it made the same warm-up noise. Sounds like piston tapping or valve train noise, but since both my new one and another new one on the lot made the same noise during warm up, then this must be something that is inherently amiss with these 1.3 motors. I now have 1800 miles on it and it still makes the same noise, but maybe even a little louder now......I was trying to wait until the 5k service, but I think I will be taking it in sooner.....it really bothers me alot, and what really surprises me is that this is a Toyota product!

scion iq at 1000 mi heavy hammering noise in engine and dumping oil out of cylinder head after 3 to5 min it subsides upon warm up clearly a cracked cylinder head i see others are also having this problem hopes are for a buyback as an oil starved engine even if a new head is installed is still a damaged one
