I hope they fired this engineer! They turned a simple lock mechanism into a Rube Goldberg contraption, that's overly complicated and expensive to fix. Scion provides no other option IE: inside release or key to open the trunk. Scion should pay to have this repaired because it's do to their faulty design and poor quality parts. I have been a loyal Toyota buyer for over 40 years but these issue has soured me on the brand. Toyota seems to be following Sony's business plan earn a good reputation and then rest on your laurels and turnout garbage.
