Hawaii in the house...I own a 2006 Scion Xa and recently the check engine light came on. I had it diagnosed at hilo Toyota.."P2401 evaporate leak detection pump control circuit". the charcoal canister and some other parts are ruined due to water leakage. I am one of millions Scion owners who now has to pay major parts and labor charges to have this fixed. I live in Hawaii and it rains alot here, I find this as a defect and Toyota should take the right actions to fix this on going issue. I love my Scion but I hate knowing this will re-occur again and again and again... as many posts have paid for new parts. This is my first time and I payed over $1,000 in repairs for this codes. "totota" handle this issue already. We are loyal customers, but U guys need to take action. Not every one has a few thousands to fix this on going issue.

I own a 2006 Scion Xa and like many others, have had to replace the charcoal canister, etc. The check engine light came on again, and again the codes say it is the same problem. Why does Toyota get away with this? it seems like a class action suite to me!!! thieves!!!

Check engine light came on, had it checked by an independent mechanic, who told me the related code indicated a problem with the emissions sensor. I took the car to the dealer and they charged me over $900 for a faulty charcoal filter. I have since come across this site detailing that this should have been a recall by the manufacturer because of a known defect., however it never was.

Started up the car and smelled a strong smell of gas. Discovered that the fuel line had ruptured spewing fuel onto the engine causing a potential fire hazard or explosion. Thank god we stopped the engine immediately or we would have been incinerated once we had reached highway speeds and engine was hot. Vehicle is now not safe to drive and has to be towed in for repairs.
