problem #2

xD 1.8L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

I have been told this should not have occurred with a car that has only 110,000 miles on it. Apparently wheel bearings are not a wearable part. This vehicle is used for work and school; never been on trip lasting over 2 hours at a time.

problem #1

xD

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,000 miles

When my XD started making a lot of grinding noise and my gas mileage went from an average of 29 to an average of 22, I took it in and they said the front driver side wheel bearing was bad, replace wheel bearing and hub ($700). This car only has 107,000 miles on it. I've had cars that are 15 and 20 years old and NEVER had to replace a wheel bearing. Seems like maybe crap parts. I'd like to know how many Scions have had this issue.

Update from Jun 19, 2014: Toyota fixed it the next day - charged me $600. It runs beautifully now and gas mileage is back up, although not all the way. I'm pretty happy, but I'm about $600 less than ecstatic about the whole thing.
