Forester LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

There are only 50,000 miles on this vehicle. The steering wheel has locked a few times since I purchased this vehicle in 2007. I never knew why, but it took only a yank to unlock it.

Last night, parked on a hill, the steering wheel and ignition locked. Nothing I tried would unlock it. I was stranded and had to abandon my car and get a taxi home. The following day, the car is still where I left it, and I still can't get the steering wheel to unlock. I am looking at an expense to move my car by tow truck and a "repair" because I can't get it unlocked by myself.

This is unacceptable. Subaru owners should not be stranded and/or stuck with added expenses merely because there is an obvious design flaw. Being stranded is a safety issue. Locking steering wheels is a safety issue. Added expenses that shouldn't be, is a cost issue.
