I brought my 2014 Subaru Forester in for an oil change and turned into a 45,000 mile service which included a tire rotation. I mentioned that the car was using extra oil. The car had a recall on oil sensor. The sensor was replaced and the engine computer was reset according to service representative.
Two days later I called and informed service that the car was making a whining noise. Service explained the noise was from tire rotation and the noise should go away in a few weeks.
After three weeks I brought the car in to service because the whining was continuing. After two visits service could find the source of whining sound. On the third visit I meet Service Manager. We went for a test drive, both of us heard the whining noise. The Manager Indicated the whining noise was not coming from the tire rotation but from the engine area.
The car went again to service. The service technician found the cooling fan bearing was making the whining sound. However the whining noise has continued. Another appointment is needed with the Service Manager
