I am not sure exactly when the monitor stopped working with my phone for maps/google or what the mileage was on my car. At my last service, the tech check it with his phone and the appropriate cord and even reset the system. The monitor still does not work with my phone as far as maps or really APPLE Play. It will periodically show a call coming thru on my older phone via bluetooth.

Without Apple CarPlay, you don't have access to Google Maps, phone, contacts, and other important navigation aids.

Couldn't get it to work while I was still at the dealer's, before driving the car off the lot. Other iPhones worked fine, same model, but not mine. And then one day a couple of months later, it worked. Both Subaru and the 3rd-party developer of Apple CarPlay were not helpful.

Apple play is intermittent at best, if I make or receive a call while the phone is attached to the car, Neither I, nor the caller can hear each other, so I have to quickly unhook the phone in order to take the call, one of the reasons I purchased the car was for the handsfree convenience. It's actually quite dangerous.

My (Motorola Moto e5 plus) phone features (favorites, phonebook, etc) are not available. Before I left the Subaru dealership the service advisor was able re-install and integrate my phone into my vehicle’s phone app. But after I left the dealership and parked the vehicle, then came back 30 minutes later, my phone features were no longer available/sync’ed. Is there a Forester software update available? Do I need an electronic vehicle reboot?
