The contact owns a 2002 Subaru Impreza. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 08V135000 (latches/locks/linkages:tailgate:latch). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repair and the contact was informed that the parts were unavailable. Afterwards, when he attempted to use the rear liftgate, one of the liftgate struts separated from the vehicle. The liftgate struck the contact's head and caused a knot. The manufacturer was called, but the contact has yet to receive a response. The failure mileage was 58,000.
