I bought a brand new 2006 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport SE in January 2006. In September 2006 I noticed my rear windshield was leaking and since the car was under warranty I brought it to get fixed at a dealer (not the dealer I bought it from near Boston, I recently moved to NH). They told me they could not fix it under warranty because it had had body work so it was no longer covered under the warranty. Well, I never had any body work done, but then they pointed out several things that showed that they might be right. I brought it for a second opinion and they couldn't do the waranty work either. Same reason. Anyway I did ask my dealer if the car was new as a joke and he said of course. Well no one at the dealer or at Subaru is fessing up to doing the work and it turns out that even for a NEW car they do not have to disclose damage or repair work unless asked or if the repair cost reaches a certain amount which I am trying to find out now. The moral of the story, next time you buy a new vehicle ask if it has had any damage or repairs of any kind and demand the answer in writing, otherwise you have no recourse if you find yourself in my situation. During my research i have found many stories of this sort of thing it is not that uncommon.
