There has been several issues with my 2015 Subaru Forrester throttle and I feel there are similar people who have this car experiencing the same issues. In no account am I ripping Subaru or the dealerships who worked on my car because as you read in this article the dealership and Subaru customer service have been very accommodating.
In December of 1917 is my first experience with this issue. While driving during a snow storm in Cleveland, Ohio the car began to accelerate on its own. I shifted the car into neutral and where the car went up to 3500 rpms. I had the car towed to a Subaru dealership in Brunswick, Ohio where they had to replace the gas pedal. Subaru customer service reimbursed my towing fee and the bill to replace the gas pedal which I was more than grateful for.
Then in October of 2019, my car died while making a left turn. It went into emergency mode where the car will only go 5 mph and it disengaged the cruise control/traction control, a message read engine emission system check, and the check engine light came on. I pulled to the side of the road and turned off the car. After turning on and off the car 3 times, it allowed me to drive again, but the curse/traction control was still disengaged. I drove it to work that morning and after work I got in the car and everything was normal (check engine light off and curse/traction control engage). I then went to the Subaru dealership in Wilmington, NC but with the check engine light off, they said they really could not do anything and to wait for it to come on again and bring it back.
A few weeks later the throttle the car then accelerated again on its own while pulling into work (I’m a teacher by the way). I put the car into neutral where again it accelerated to 3500 rpms. I had it towed and they replaced the gas pedal once again. I’m now on my 3rd gas pedal. Subaru customer service gave me a voucher to pay for the fix, which again I am grateful for. February 2022, on my way to work the car again went into safety mode that I describe earlier while pulling on to Interstate 40. Again after turning the car on and off 3 times, I was then allowed to drive it in which I took it straight to the Subaru dealership in Wilmington, NC. This time the check engine light was still on so they were able to diagnose this problem as the gas pedal assembly. The gas pedal assembly has been replace 3 times now. Subaru customer service again gave me a voucher to fix this problem, which I am grateful for. I did mention that I feel that this issue is an issue with the 2015 Subaru forester and asked if they can buy back this car because it is dangerous. I do not want to trade it in because of the issues it has. I have read similar reports from other consumers online and we need to push for a recall of this car because it is dangerous. I don’t blame Subaru or the dealerships I took my car to because of how accommodating they have been but there is something wrong with this model of this car.
