I bought the car on the 6th, this happened on the 16th, a beautiful 48 degrees f day (amazing for December in Illinois), this should not happen. A lot of forums talk about this issue with Foresters and Outbacks and there is a class action lawsuit too in CA. There is no starburst where a rock hit, just a hairline crack that runs vertical nearly the whole height of the window.
I called the dealership service department they said it's probably from a rock but they will take a look at it tomorrow. This is going to be the nail in the coffin for Subaru in my driveway (my wife's 2014 forester has the oil consumption problem that plague Subarus, they just agreed to fix it). I hope they fix it, I will update my post if they do.

Cracked for no reason within 1 year. So many cracks, we had to replace it.
