Impreza 2.0I , 5 DR 2.0L

  • Manual transmission

Bought the car with 7 miles in November of 2019 and had no issues until recently. This is NOT my first Subaru (and tbh - won't be my last) so I am familiar with these vehicles (especially turbo cars) burning oil. Anyway, this issue started as a "Low engine oil pressure" warning light which prompted me to check the oil (around 1,000 miles since last oil change) which was about a half quart low. Added a little bit of oil (OEM Subaru 0W-20) but light stayed lit so i had the car towed to the dealer. They checked it, turned the light off and told me to come back in 1,200 miles for them to check the oil level. 1,200 Miles later they told me I failed the 2nd part of the oil consumption test so I would need to get a new engine short block. Had engine replaced (was told no break in procedure needed to be done btw) with new parts except for cylinder heads.
