Impreza WRX Premium 2.0L

  • CVT transmission
  • 34,797 miles

Having now researched the issue it's clear that a number of engine components are not what I expected. There seems to be a clear pattern of cylinder 3 failure for these engines. The failure resulted in an 8cm hole in the engine.

The Subaru dealership wants nothing to do with the issue and has completely fresh aired me and not responded to an online enquiry and phone enquiry. You would think there was some money in it given that they charge $7200 AU inc of GST for the block alone. This has forced me to consider a specialist high performance mechanic.

Impreza WRX 5-DR Limited 2.5L Turbo

  • Manual transmission
  • 25,000 miles

At approximately 25k miles on my 2014 WRX (5 Door, Limited), I made a low speed, 2nd gear turn and halfway through the engine stalled, losing power steering and brakes. I was able to complete the turn and pull over safely. The engine was able to be restarted but had a loud noise (sounded like rod knock IMO) and had very limited power, but no CEL. My vehicle was towed at Subaru's expense to the local dealer where the engine was replaced under warranty.
