Burning oil smell traced to leaking oil pan. New shortblock installed May 2004. Oil dripping on catallytic converter giving off smell when idling and stopped. Subaru NA states since old pan mated to new block they can't warranty (how do we know it's not the new block?) Dealer covered half the cost to reseal (same dealer that installed it, yes I am a glutton for punishment). Don't know if it still leaks or not but see other complaint as to where this one left off.
