Legacy 2.5 I 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,089 miles

This has happened mutli times over the 6 years that I owned the car. I will describe the latest incident. I was stopped at a stop sign and then I went to accelerate the best I could get out of the car was about 3 to 5 mph. When I pulled over and parked I noticed that the engine was real loud and was idling real fast ~ 2000 rpm.. I turned off the ignition and waited a few minutes and then started it back up. I had to cranked much longer than before it started. It started and idled normally. This has been happening more frequently recently. In the past it happened maybe every 2000 miles or so. Now its happening every 50 miles or so.

Legacy 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 131,000 miles

While driving at about 20 mph I lost acceleration and couldn't pick up speed. When I pulled over and parked I noticed that the engine was real loud and was idling real fast. I turned off the ignition and waited a while, then started it back up. It started and idled normally. Also, the check engine and cruise light were on. I took it to a mechanic. He said it was a p2138 problem. This has happened twice. The mechanic thinks I need an pedal position switch assembly. We are waiting for one to get in stock. It's a good thing I wasn't on the interstate when this happened. People need to be alerted to this potential problem and Subaru needs to be responsible for this before someone gets in an accident.
