The dash has melted leaving it hard to see out of the windshield. The dash is also extremely sticky and shiny. I thought it just needed to be cleaned but realized shortly after that was not the case and have since found this is an issue with my make and model per Subaru.

When the rear window defrost is turned on the radio no longer works. I believe this to be a safety concern in the event of trying to hear important broadcasts in poor weather. This is a well known issue, but has been poorly addressed by Subaru. This affects many models in this year range. Leaving the consumer to pay to replace a poorly made part to repeatedly occur even after replacement in some cases.

The contact owns a 2008 Subaru Legacy. The contact stated that the surface of the dashboard had become very shiny and the glare from the sun light caused a visibility hazard. The vehicle was diagnosed at the dealer but not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 15,000.
