Extreme Disappointment - First time Subaru Owner - brand new 2015 Legacy 3.6R - purchased Dec 2014. Major Safety and Quality Issues
At first, within days of purchasing my car in December 2014, I smelled a burning smell. I initially thought maybe it was the "new car" burn off smell. However, now at 3500 miles, the smell is not dissipating at all. A Subaru dealer confirmed smell but was unable to determine exact cause citing it may be the rustproof coating for the exhaust.
On 3/1/15, I smelled the burning smell as I was driving in a snow storm. When I parked, I opened the hood and found not only water covering the entire engine bay, I found snow on the battery and underneath it. The battery cradle was full of water.
Water / salt stains and rust are evident under the actual hood and throughout the engine compartment; the main fuse box smells too. There is only a small section of weather strip above the grill; it does not extend across the top of the lights nor does the piece along the dash side of the engine bay.
Serious safety and mechanical risks; water all over electrical components. Contacted Subaru of America (SOA) no response yet.
I urge owners to check your engines, especially those in winter climate; contact SOA to register a compliant.

Oil burning since I have owned the vehicle. I have to put at least multiple quarts in between oil changes and before 3,000 miles.
