Subaru supposedly fixed their head gasket leaks by using a metal gasket. However, the new major leak is around the cam carrier seal. There is no gasket for the cam carrier--just RTV silicone. The cost of the silicone is about $10. The labour to completely pull the engine, remove the cam cover & reseal is at least $1600 (others have stated quotes over $3000). When mine failed the vehicle was about 10km/7months out of warranty. There is a TSB on the issue but no recall because Subaru doesn't want to pay for it. It's a slow leak, but does cause oil burning issues and premature wear. Bad PCV valves are stated to make the problem worse, but mine was already replaced. The RTV only lasts about 5 years, so even if you pay hand over fist to get it resealed at the dealer, within 5 years or less you'll have to get it resealed again.
