problem #3

Dec 282003

(reported on)

Outback 2.5L

  • Manual transmission
  • 128,000 miles

it's doing it again, but much worse now than before.. used to rattle only when revving the engine, now it's all the time. Seems like no one can tighten the heat sheilds down so they stay tight.

problem #1

May 312002

(reported on)

Outback 2.5L

  • Manual transmission
  • miles

A fairly loud rattling noise started coming from underneath the car. Was worse at higher RPMs when accelerating or at low RPMs when idling. Took it to the dealer, they said it was several loose heat shields that were rattling. They tightened some & removed others that they said were not important. Now at 95,000 miles, it's happening again..
