problem #1

Jul 062009

Outback 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 102,000 miles

The problem is not yet fixed. Subaru Corporate Office New Jersey refuses to have their technical team work on the vehicle to fix it, despite their knowledge that no Subaru dealership has been able to fix this egregious transmission problem. Subaru offered me a one thousand dollar credit towards a new Subaru. Subaru Technical Team guessed it was the TPS, but when told that had been replaced, they suggested replacing the ECM and TCM, with no guarantee that this would solve the problem. The TPS has been replaced 3 times since 2009 by 3 different mechanics. I bought the vehicle new in 2000 and have spent $27,000 in repairs to date. The repair list is endless - replacement of: cylinder head gaskets, right axle twice, left axle, water pump three times, AF sensor, front brake rotors, valve cover seals, all radiator hoses, sway bar, starter motor, radiator, condenser O-ring for AC twice, power steering pump, axle seals, rear rotors, timing belt, wiring harness speed sensors, knock sensor, TPS, and much, much more, ALL THIS BEFORE 111,164 MILES. The next 20,000 miles have been a driving nightmare with the vehicle presenting severe shift shock and lurching at all speeds with no warning. I know there are many Subaru owners who share my sentiment - daily regret that I ever purchased a Subaru.
