I made the mistake (which I will not repeat) of buying a Subaru. Besides the constant spamming of offers in three years, I've experienced countless recalls and now - six months after the warranty expired - my mechanic discovered that the reason this thing kept burning batteries was that it has had an over-charging alternator from day one. Called Subaru's customer service, guess what the answer was? Yup - you're on your own: doesn't matter that they know I have had to change a battery before and I never replaced the alternator on the thing (or that their warranty covers the first 36K miles and this thing still has less than 35K). Never again.
