Flashing dash board lights, including check engine light had been fixed by Subaru in 2014. I had bought the car new, so it was covered under warranty. Subaru gave me a 170,000 mile warranty for the wiring harness problem. (I had purchased Subaru's new car extended 70,000 warranty when I bought the car and was given an additional 100,000 wiring harness warranty at the time of repair and replacement.) The flashing dash board lights, including check engine light has returned, it was documented when I had taken the car in a dealership to install chrome like Subaru bumper covers last October 2017.
Subsequently it has appeared briefly a couple of times over the past six months. The car is not really operational when the electrical problem occurs. I cannot find the wiring harness extended warranty that was given to me by Subaru in 2014. Subaru corporate and the dealership do not have a copy of the wiring harness warranty I was given. They state I will likely have to pay out of pocket to get it fixed again. The dealership wants $$ just to diagnose the electrical short and I'm looking at likely $1,000.00 to replace the wiring harness part. I have the dealership invoice from 2014 that shows the same work that was done on my car, covered under warranty.
Subaru reliability is not all it's cranked up to be; trading it in for an Acura RDX is looking better all the time.

This has been an ongoing issue for 2 years. Four dash lights come on: Brake (flashing), Cruise (flashing), Check Engine (constant), Vehicle Dynamics Control (constant) but everything seems fine, no noises or changes in performance, and no signs of fluid leaks. First time this happened, the dealer got error code P2096, put some additive in my gas tank, and the dash lights were normal for a few months. Second time the same 4 dash lights lit, plus sometimes the Oil Pressure light (constant) but the oil light would only stay on 5-20 minutes then shut off (4 other lights still on). Again dealer got error code P2096. Dealer replaced the Oxygen Sensors. Dash lights were normal for about 150 miles of driving then back on again, and this time the occasional Oil Pressure light would stay on longer but then go off. Error code P2096 again.
This time the dealer replaced the oil pressure sensor. Dash lights were normal for a few days then back on they go. Drove it 3 months with the lights on, then they just quit on their own. They stayed off for 2 months and are now back on again. I am wondering if this is electrical as the car runs fine, no signs of leaks, always make sure the gas cap is tightly on. I've spent over $1,000 and still having all the same dash lights coming on.
