Serpentine belt two needed to be replaced due to signs of imminent failure (I hate the giant hamster wheel sound). This time Subaru charges me for the part and labor since the belt is a consumable. Technically they’re correct, but these belts should last at least 75k miles if not 150k.

The ultimate insult was the subsequent discovery that this belt was the defective part number from the first TSB (02-156-14). In addition, there was another TSB (02-168-17) that should’ve covered the belt that they should’ve put on at 6,782 miles. The car was still under warranty! I had to pay $209.98 for the diagnostic and belt replacement. I was ripped off.

I bought 2014 outback in early 2015 Feb car had 37000 klm ; I have had two legacy wagons with a combined millage over 800.000 klm had no problems. Started to get squealing noises from under hood of my 2014 outback it has 64096 klm on it. Took to dealer to have checked. My car is not even three years old yet they told me I need a tention wheel, pully and a belt, because I am over 50000 klm I will have to pay 400.00 dollars to have repaired. I TOLD THEM MY CAR WAS NOT EVEN THREE YEARS OLD they told me it did not matter I was over the millage. I did not get it repaired my car is still a new car. I took it to OTTOS SUBARU in Ottawa I spoke to the manager she said there is nothing she could do because I was over, she offered to good will parts but I would still have to pay labour and new belt. I politely declined and said its a 2014 she said that's all she could do. I think she could have disregarded the millage because my car is not three years old. I have lost all faith is Subaru service I was always a Subaru guy but now I think its time I went to another make I was telling all my friends to buy Subaru but now I am telling them to stay away because of the lack of customer service. I am very disappointed my car is still a new car 2 years old and nothing done to fix problem. I hope they work on improving customer service because I paied a lot of money for my car and for them to charge me to fix an engine problem on a two year old car is very poor customer relations in my home there are two drivers and only one car. I feel cheated by Subaru and am looking to trade for another make that thinks about customer satisfaction instead of the dollar Thanks Subaru it was a good run while it lasted the honeymoon is over my son was looking at buying a Subaru he has now changed his mind and my family is also turned off because of problems I have reguarding my experance with service, THANKS FOR ALL THE NO HELP I RECIVED......

Second time in for engine noise. Mechanics identified it as bad AC Compressor. Service Manager informed me there was another 2014 OB in there for same issue. Part not available, wasted trip and another day of loss wages, not cool. Issue was not resolved.

3rd time to try and resolve the chirpy engine noise. Hopeful that the part "AC Compressor" would have resolved the issue. Half a Saturday wasted, got home took Wife and Kid to movies, problem not solved, the chirpy engine noise is back the same day. SOA is getting an earful about their so called "Safe and Reliable" mighty Outback.

Will be taking car back to the folks at the dealer...I'm getting to know these good folks really well.

Two days ago I started hearing a Bad whinning noise as if a Pulley Bearing or an Air leak is occurring. I dropped it off today 10/9/14 at Stohlmans Subaru in Tysons, VA and will let you know what they find. With under 16,000 miles and it just being over a year old this is unacceptable. Why should my year old motor be doing this? I am losing faith in Subaru. I purchased this car because of the reliability the old ones had and the new safety features that Subaru says they have, but it seems that the old ones were the reliable ones and they have changed them and just use the old ones as selling techniques.

Purchased a new 2014 Subaru Iutback limited 2.5---noticed strange humming, wooo,wooo,wooo, jet engine sound at exactly 3700 rpms ( no sound above or below 3700 rpms)--noise can be heard driving or revving engine up to 3700 rpms in neutral also. Took to Subaru and they checked several things and say noise goes away when serpentine belt is removed but returns when belt is replaced.--they also replaced alternator and replaced pulley--noise still there-------

Subaru then had an engineer look at car and they now say 3.6 engine makes same noise at 3700 rpms and now call this normal characteristic of their cars but still can't say what causes this strange and loud humming at 3700 rpms----Subaru customer service has not been helpful, they all seem to want to distance themselves from this. My car now has 10,000 miles on it and noise is still there and Subaru still won't address issue. This has been extremely disappointing as I thought Subaru was supposed to be quality/customer oriented co. Has anyone else experienced this?
