This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Subaru dealer.
Blind spot monitor does not work all the time on passenger side. To to dealer and they told me everything was ok. It only works about 40% of the time. Even when you are passing a tractor trailer, it does not work. The driver side works fine. I have found several complaints on the internet about this same thing.
I called the factory and they told me to go back to the dealer. What good is that when they tell you everything is ok. This is very dangerous when you get used to using it. It is a safety feature which Subaru brags about, I think they would want to correct on my vehicle and others that have the same problem.

Hello,
I bought an Outback 2015 last October. The Blind-spot monitor doesn't work sometimes since over one month ago. I had put it in service at the Service Department of the dealer I bought from for three times. I waste a lot of time and energy for this. But they didn't fix it well again and again. The problem still exists now. Due to it gives me wrong prompts, that really put me at risk.
I prefer to buy a car with this feature cause that can improve the safety for changing lane. In other words, the feature is the reason I bought this car.
I've already contacted the dealer and car factory. They didn't respond to my refund request. This is the first time I met such matter. I look forward to get help from you.

Took car to dealership where it was purchased one week ago. After bugging them they told a 3rd party that they would have to order a new sensor which will take another 5 days to arrive. They are not even sure this will fix the issue. The service manager returned my call and claimed to know nothing about it.
I would expect every service manager to know about every car in their department that they are either unable or unwilling to fix after a week has passed. Subaru Superstore, Chandler, Arizona. Stay away..!
Also, no response to my complaint from Subaru Corporate Customer Service. Not even an automated acknowledgement of receipt of the complaint. If I so completely disregarded my customers in this fashion I would be out of business. I note this is the second complaint for this same issue on this site.
