brake pedal goes past gas pedal. pedal goes almost to floor

Noticed when I start car brake pedal will depress slightly. Also when braking brake pedal goes below gas pedal. I have size 13 shoe 4 1/2 in. wide. Concern was hitting both at same time. Brake pedal feels like air in fluid lines. Service person said that is normal for this vehicle. See owners manual 11-21, 11-22. Pulled into parking spot at a park and pressed brake and got gas pedal as well. Luckily hit tree in front to me instead of fence. Now have body damage in vehicle that has less than 300 miles because of poor brake pedal design. Not everyone brakes with left foot. I also drive a stick shift car and have used my right foot for braking for a long time. Braking with left foot difficult for me. Brake pedal only 4 in wide. Less than 3 in. to gas pedal.
