Noticed on short trips bad instability in rear end while driving on icy roads. I can barely inch along while my back end is severely sliding back and forth...other cars around me FWD other AWD 4x4 all seem to be having no problem yet nothing I can do can get my car to settle down. Up until yesterday had only happen on short trips so it was no big deal. Yesterday it became very dangerous and made us have to cancel a road trip...there was no way to regain control of rear end...I Googled and it sounds like same issue as 2005-2009 Subarus almost exactly. Going slow doesn't regain stability it just makes it easier to correct each radical rear end swing...swings left, swings right...car becomes completely usable. :( Took to Subaru dealership and it did it while mechanic test drove it, he spent 5 hours working on it and found no issues that would cause this behavior. Car came up clean...not a shock seeing as it only has 6000km's on it.
We drove it home and it was totally fine again, like it is over 90% of the time. I really don't know what to think my confidence is shattered in this car. And I only just got it. most of the time its the safest car I've ever driven, and then out of nowhere it becomes the scariest most unstable and completely un-driveable. I will be contacting Subaru and our local dealership is working with us, as they don't believe what they worked on should have really fixed anything...there is something wrong with this car. I don't know if its a mixture of road conditions it just can't handle...(seeing as other vehicles were doing fine while I couldn't even drive without car trying to do figure 8's down the road, neither could husband or mechanic...so its not driver error) Most conditions this car is superior in, but again every now and then this car is completely un-driveable!!! So beware!!! Maybe others will come forward...I can't be the only one. This flaw is dangerous!
